Restoration, renovation and tourism enhancement project for the national cultural itinerary "King's Road", linking Abidjan, Grand-Bassam, Aboisso, Adzopé, Abengourou, Agnibilékrou, Bondoukou, Bouna and Kong. Budget estimated at 35.2 billion FCFA over 36 months, covering accommodation, catering, leisure and royal cultural sites across 8 cities.
📋 Description du projet
The "King's Road" is a major cultural itinerary identified in the national strategy "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire", linking nine cities in eastern and north-eastern Côte d'Ivoire, rich in royal, religious, craft and natural heritage.
The project aims to transform this series of high historical value sites into a coherent tourism value chain, intervening on four components in each city:
🏨 ACCOMMODATION (9.9 billion FCFA)
Renovation of boutique hotels, guesthouses, eco-lodges and heritage facilities across all 8 cities.
🍽️ CATERING (4.9 billion FCFA)
Rehabilitation of existing units, creation of dining rooms, professional kitchens, terraces and sanitary facilities.
🎭 LEISURE (5.0 billion FCFA)
Leisure spaces, pedestrian trails, small amphitheaters, lighting, urban furniture and activity facilities.
🏛️ CULTURE / ROYAL PALACES (11.9 billion FCFA)
Architectural restoration, scenography, museology, ticketing, security and signage for royal and religious sites including UNESCO-listed sites (Grand-Bassam, Kong).
⚙️ HORIZONTAL COMPONENTS (3.5 billion FCFA)
Technical and environmental studies, supervision, capacity building, signage and international marketing.
3-phase implementation over 36 months.
💡 Concept & Valeur ajoutée
Establish eastern and north-eastern Côte d'Ivoire as structured, competitive and exportable tourism corridors, based on kingdoms, royal palaces, religious heritage, crafts and cultural experiences. Extend tourist length of stay and increase spending on the East/North-East axis, benefiting local SMEs, women and youth.
