Development of a national biotourism corridor on the "Elephant Route" linking San Pedro, Taï National Park (UNESCO), Mont Sangbé National Park and Comoé National Park (UNESCO). Total budget of 110 billion FCFA over 36 to 48 months, included in the 2021-2025 National Development Plan, structured as a PPP with mixed public-private-climate fund financing.
📋 Description du projet
The "Elephant Route" is positioned in the national strategy "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire" as a biotourism corridor dedicated to exploring Côte d'Ivoire's natural treasures. The project is included in the 2021-2025 National Development Plan for an indicative total cost of 110 billion FCFA.
The corridor covers 5 intervention zones:
🌊 SAN PEDRO — Logistics gateway (12 billion FCFA)
Restoration of eco-lodges and transit hotels, welcome and booking centers, road signage, sustainable catering center.
🌿 TAÏ NATIONAL PARK — UNESCO (24 billion FCFA)
Last large primary forest in West Africa. Habitat rehabilitation, bungalows and scientific camps, marked trails, boardwalks, observation towers and hidden hides, interpretation center, low-impact monitoring equipment.
⛰️ MONT SANGBÉ NATIONAL PARK (16 billion FCFA)
Mountain landscapes and protected savannahs, 14 peaks above 1,000m. Hiking huts, rest areas, observation trails, panoramic platforms, viewpoints, safety equipment.
🦁 COMOÉ NATIONAL PARK — UNESCO (24 billion FCFA)
One of the largest protected areas in West Africa, unique forest-savannah habitat. Safari camp rehabilitation, 4x4 routes, observation posts, biodiversity interpretation center, biological monitoring.
🏘️ SURROUNDING COMMUNITY ZONES (14 billion FCFA)
Micro-camps, village welcome areas, local catering stations, community trails, revenue-sharing mechanisms.
⚙️ HORIZONTAL COMPONENTS (20 billion FCFA)
Studies, supervision, guide training, digital marketing platform, national multilingual signage, sustainability mechanisms.

Build a national biotourism corridor with strong international reputation, based on Côte d'Ivoire's national parks and protected areas, combining enhanced protection, quality tourist reception and direct economic benefits for local communities. Position Côte d'Ivoire as the reference destination for nature and scientific tourism in West Africa.
